Why You Should Use a Cleansing Oil in The Spring

Written by: Esthetician Stephanie Smith

Spring is my favorite season. I can’t wait to see the cherry trees blossom. In my skin care studio in Nashville, TN, I always notice a pattern of individuals with skin that has sensitivity issues. The weather keeps changing, leading to redness and a chapped quality. This is surely true of spring in most cities around the world. This means that dry skin will be drier and more irritated, acneic skin will have more breakouts, and PPE mask wearers will have more “maskne” flareups.

This is where the Suki Cleansing Oil can be a skin care hero. It deeply cleanses, removing makeup and dirt, and softening blackheads making them easier to remove. Oil cleansers seal all cracks in the skin and trap moisture making the skin more resilient and less reactive. In oily skin types, the oil is effective in replacing contaminated oils with beneficial oils, suppressing oil production in the skin over time. Oil cleansers can even smother mites that inhabit the surface of the skin. These mites contribute to redness and sensitivity, making Rosacea, Psoriasis and Eczema worse, so this has a calming effect on the skin.

The ingredient list for the Suki Skincare Cleansing Oil is a super-hero lineup of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and wound healing ingredients that refresh and renew the skin. Sunflower Seed Oil is hydrating, protective and anti-microbial, reducing redness and creating a barrier between irritated skin and the environment. Grapeseed, Meadowfoam and Moringa Seed oil wake up the skin with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing action. Calendula is calming to the skin, healing wounds and conditions such as Psoriasis and Eczema. What’s not to love?

I always oil-cleanse as the first cleanse in any facial treatment. Massage the cleansing oil into dry skin for 15-30 seconds to loosen up makeup, dirt and blackheads. Then add some water to the skin, and watch the cleanser turn to a milky consistency. Wipe off the cleanser with a damp cloth to reveal perfectly hydrated, calm skin, with zero greasy texture. Plant oils truly are the magical problem-solvers of skincare. Follow your cleanser with a Suki serum or facial oil and moisturizer, and you will have skin that is plump and hydrated until bedtime!
