all bars are not equal

bar soaps can effectively remove dirt & germs from the skin. many bar soaps are extremely harsh, drying & damaging to the skin, which can disrupt the natural protective layer of the skin & its pH level.

as we know our skin makes a lightly acidic secretion to help protect itself, called the Acid Mantle. the acid mantle is the protective barrier on the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin) & is comprised of a mixture of sweat, minerals & sebum.* the most effective way we can cleanse the skin is to use an alkaline foaming system (soap) to remove the excess oils, dirt and germs. saponification is the chemical reaction that occurs when fats or oils (fatty acids) come into contact with an alkali (or a base.) it literally means "soap making" - from a Latin word "sapo" or Celtic word "saipo" which also means soap. Without these 2 main ingredients there is simply no soap.

the ideal pH range for a supported acid mantle is approximately 4.5 to 5.5 which is slightly acidic. this protects from microorganisms which could irritate, permeate or otherwise disrupt the overall health of the skin & body.

our sensitive cleansing bar is an all over face & body bar, which was created with sensitive skin types in mind. this cleansing bar has a pH of 9.5-10.5 & is made to cleanse, protect & moisturize your skin without any drying or stripping feeling. using a cleanser that contains a higher pH causes a slight increase & supports the skin’s pH level, which increases protection & hydration.

when picking a cleanser for your skin you want to find a product that can wash away dirt, debris & excess oils while retaining a balanced of amount of the skin’s natural oils. removing too much of the natural oils can leave the skin dry, flaky, inflamed & irritated. this can also aggravate serious skin conditions as chronic acne, dermatitis, or eczema. even a severely dry skin can be soothed quickly after using an alkaline base cleansing bar. mildness does not equal a low pH & with that I would never want to put straight tomato juice (pH value of 4.5) on the skin 😊

our sensitive cleansing bar is a French milled soap which is an extra step of thoroughly mixing the soap & adding (in this case hydrating & moisturizing ingredients) while squeezing out any excess moisture or air. the process of French milling allows for a much smoother, creamier & luxurious product.

this bar also contains our colloidal oat, a natural anti-inflammatory which is also gluten free. colloidal oat is known to profoundly calm & soothe the skin while providing cleansing & moisturizing benefits. shea butter is known to help support tissue cell regeneration & boost collagen production which adds strength. these ingredients are extremely hydrating, providing much needed nourishment while locking in moisture as it softens the skin.

* a complex mixture of fatty acids, sugars, waxes & other chemicals, which are body naturally excretes, to aid in the protection of trans epidermal water loss, keeping our skin well hydrated, soft & pliable.
